How can I be allergic to my lip gloss all of a sudden?

I have been using my lip gloss for about a year and my lips had no reaction to the lip gloss for 7 months.





About 4 months ago my lips started peeling and felt like they were chapped real bad. I kept using my lip gloss because I thought it was from the weather change.





Then last month my lips became itchy and swollen after using my lip gloss. I changed to medicated chapstick and within 3 days my lips were fine. Its been a month without lip gloss and I haven't had a reaction.





This was an allergic reaction, right?

I was thinking maybe the container of lip gloss is too old and or contaminated. Try a new container of the lip gloss.Lip gloss should be replaced every 2-3 months at least.
The human body can develop allergies. I developed an allergy to strawberries totally randomly.
You can become sensitized to a substance over time. I used he Ortho-Evra patch for a couple years and then all of a sudden it turned my skin all read and would itch like crazy, and my doc said it as an allergic reaction. So it can happen, even if you don't have any type of reaction initially.
There is no rhyme nor reason to why allergies develop. But I don't like most lipsticks and lip glosses because they ultimately do what you describe, after making the skin feel thick and waxy.

MAC are great - non sticky but fairly long lasting and delicious.


Lancome Juicy Tubes are great but each taste different so you may love one colour but hate the next.


Nars are pretty awful - the smell ick, although the colours are gorgeous.


MAC have an amazing colour choice and always come out with limited edition colours.


Go to your nearest department store and have a play around. It's fun!

Bare Essentials Buxom lips. They last a long long time, don't crawl OFF yer mouth, and come in some decent colors. Clinique has a couple good ones, and Smashbox too, but BE is the best.
Lancome Juicy tubes!!!!!! :D it stays on for long and extremely glossy, you can even leave the house with just them on! Plus, the smell is heavenly!

It's not your lipgloss. I had a friend who had the same thing happen to her. Something your eating is doing it... It was chewing gum for her. I know what you mean, it's frustrating. I usually wipe my lips with a tissue when that happens and reapply the lipgloss.
like the other girl said, gum causes that. but just like your skin peeling, your lips do the same thing. mary k has good lip products, there is a lip scrub type thing, that takes off some of the dead skin on your lips. also at sephora you can buy a sugar lip treatment, it helps deep condition your lips. it helps a lot to keep them soft =]

How do I get lip gloss out of silk blouse?

I am at work and just realized I have smudged lip gloss down the front of my silk blouse. How do I remove it with things I may have at work without ruining the silk?How do I get lip gloss out of silk blouse?
Need to purchase Tide on the go pen. You can keep one at work, in your car so when situations like this arise you are covered. Or you could keep an extra blouse in your car so if this happens again is all you have to do is change. Seeings that the blouse is silk what ever you use at work to remove the stain will leave a mark probably worser then the mark you all ready have on your shirt. Wow, I just answered another question almost identical to this one. It must be a really rough week for silk.





Unfortunately, I would not recommend using anything but a delicate fabric wash. The best you can do is use water and dab it, do not rub it. Anything else may ruin the fabric. You can try to run someplace on a break and get some delicate fabric wash like Woolite or Delicare. Most dollar stores carry their own brands, as well, if that helps. Wet stain and apply a little of the laundry wash. Work in gently and rinse. Hopefully that will remove most of it. Blot dry as best as you can.





When you get home you will have to hand wash the garment with a gentle laundry wash like Woolite of Delicare. Do not use anything else, except a laundry wash specifically designed for silk and other delicate fabrics. I personally use Delicare.





Use only cold water and apply laundry wash to the already wet stain. Work in gently. Follow laundry wash instructions for hand washing. Rinse and wash only in cold water.





Once garment is washed and rinsed, air dry only. Do not put it in the dryer. Once it is completely dry, check to see if stain is gone. If not, repeat washing steps.

If heat ruins lip gloss, then I'd suggest a temperature a few degrees lower than room temperature to place it in. Then you might try keeping it downstairs, sice hot air rises.

Did you know that Vaseline is the best product to use. You cant take that anywhere regardless of the temperature.
